30 Paintings in 30 Days

I accepted Leslie Saeta's challenge to paint 30 paintings in 30 days. I learned a lot more than I thought I would. It was certainly a challenge! The photo collage did not quite hold all of them, but they are all on this blog. Most are for sale, but some are privately owned. Looking at them as a collection is eye opening. I love bright colors, nautical anything, & flowers.

Spoonful of Sugar

A friend of mine posted a picture of her new puppy. I knew I just had to paint him from the moment I saw him. He is a spoonful of sugar! Painted with MaimeriBlu watercolors on watercolor paper.

Whirlpool

Just doodling with a paint brush and some FW acrylic inks. Guess the influence of the ocean is ever present with me. This acrylic ink painting is on 300# paper and is size 5 x 7.

Palm Grove

 If emotions came in colors, you could see how it feels to view these palms from my hammock. This is a 5 x 7 in FW acrylic inks on 300# paper.

Breaking

If I had learned to surf first, I might not have learned to do anything else! It looks like it would be addictive. This is a 5 x 7 FW acrylic ink on 300# paper.

Aptly Spoken

A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver. Proverbs 25:11  Sometimes words are images and images are words to me. This is an image I think about often and try to keep my tongue till the right time. This is FW acrylic inks on black paper size 5 x 7.

Shimmering

Daler-Rowney art company makes a set of acrylic inks called Shimmering red, green, gold, and blue. They are all but invisible on white paper, but show off on black paper. This leaf is painted with the shimmering inks on 140# black paper. It is a 5 x 7.

Lauren's Lanterns

Lauren's wedding day was magical in so many ways. I throughly enjoyed the mild September night with family and friends. Never before, have I encountered so many paper lanterns. It took my breath away to see them floating through the sky! This is a 5 x 7 using FW acrylic ink on 300# watercolor paper.

Sea Marks

I read a quote: "If you are lucky enough to live by the sea, you are lucky enough." I would love to be by the sea and paint birds, buoys, dunes, shells, waves, houses, boats, marinas, anchors, fish, ect...

Come to Light

The caterpillar has to struggle to come to the light. What a life lesson.

Nipper

Nipper is a soft, chunky cat with beautiful eyes. She got her name because she will nip you when she is getting attention. She is irresitble anyway.  This is a 5 x 7 watercolor on 300# paper using MaimeriBlu paints.

Moon River

Moon River, wider than a mile, I'm crossing you in style some day. Oh dream maker, you heart breaker. Wherever you're going, I'm going your way. Two drifters, off to see the world. There's such a lot of world to see. We're after the same rainbow's end, waiting around the bend, my huckleberry friend. Moon river and me.

Thats the song that rises up in my heart every time I see the moon on the ocean. And then my eyes leak!

Fishing Fix

Dressed for fishing, not fashion, this elderly lady was patiently waiting for a nibble. I never needed a fishing fix, but a beach fix is an ever present tall order at my house. This is a 5 x 7 watercolor on 300# paper using MaimeriBlu paints.

Purple Daze

Dinner out at the "Frying Pan" and a stroll down the waterfront of South Port, NC. Moon was rising and the night was just magical. My happy place! This is a 5 x 7 watercolor on 300# paper. using MaimeriBlu paints.

Seasoned

Fishing skiff with some of its original color still present. Looks like its been taken out a time or two.

Sharp Top

Sharp Top mountain in Lynchburg, Virginia. I have painted this mountain several times and am not bored with it yet. One of my best friends enjoys this view on her back deck and sometimes I think someone is going to get hurt if I don't get there soon! This is a 5 x 7 FW acrylic ink on 300# watercolor paper.

Head in the Sand

Flamingos put their head in the sand and swish their beaks back and forth to gather food. Who would have thought they eat this way. They are born white or grey but become bright warm colors based on their diet. This is a 5 x 7 FW acrylic ink painting on 300# watercolor paper.

Radio Flyer

Almost everyone has a story or a scar from playing with a Radio Flyer wagon. My children turned it into a chariot for royalty and then into a race car that moved faster than the rider could handle. This is a 5 x 7 watercolor on 300# paper. I used MaimeriBlu paints.

Wildflowers keep coming back year after year in my backyard. Love to paint this particular flower.

High Five

High Five Coffee Bar in downtown Asheville, NC serves specialty coffees made with trained baristas. It was sooooooo good I wanted to high five everyone! It was off the chain delicious. Shaking leg good! Can you tell I can't wait to go back and have another?!

On a cold blustery Thanksgiving day, we took a walk down a tree lined street. Leaves were swriling all around us. None were left on the trees by this time of year. I brought several inside and begin to draw and paint them as I imagined them to be just a few weeks prior. This is FW acrylic ink on 4 x 6 watercolor paper.

Breaking through the Fog

This painting practically painted itself with just a little help! Thats what happens when you mix water, FW acrylic inks, and rubbing alochol. This is a 5 x 7 painting with FW acrylic inks on 140# watercolor paper.

Beginning of the Rainbow

I know those fences on the beach really don't have all those colors, but it feels like the entrance to heaven. This is a 5 x 7 FW acrylic inks on 300# watercolor paper.

Cosmo

Girls just want to have fun! I accepted a challenge with Leslie Saeta for 30 paintings in 30 days. I begin to struggle with the very first painting and finally posted just before midnight! My first day of school as a child, the teacher took the class outside and we collected acorns, twigs, seed pods and leaves. We then came back into the class room and were given a board and glue. I remember to this day thinking I was more excited than anyone in the class!! That memory sparked a similar approach for this piece except I used tape, a brush, and my favorite FW acrylic inks. This is a 5 X 7 on 300# watercolor.

Texas Sunsets

Everything is bigger in Texas including this sunset on South Padre Island. This is a 5 X 7 FW acrylic ink painting on 140# watercolor paper.
