Morning in Willis

Morning in Willis is inspired by our stay at an Air b and b farm house in Willis, VA. It was way up in the mountains on a 35 acre farm, far away from towns. It was one of our favorite stays. The first morning in this old farm house, the sun came through the bank of windows in the kitchen, adding all kinds of sparkle to this beautiful teal pitcher. I used Daler Rowney FW Inks on watercolor paper.

Bucket of fun

My favorite thing to do on the beach with my grandchildren involves a sand pail. A sand pail for sand castles, making tidal pools, chasing them with a pail full of water, and collecting shells. I will never regret a day spent making sandcastles. This is an 8 x 6 watercolor (MaimeriBlu) on YUPO paper. It is best to have it double matted and behind glass when framing.

Leaning tower of privy

Leaning tower of privy is a 6 x 8 original watercolor of an old out house. My husband looked at it and said "look at the leaning tower of privy" which brought laughter and an idea. Sometimes I have the name of the painting first. I used watercolor paper and MaimeriBlu watercolors.

Sum'r in a can

Sum'r in a can is finally finished. The details are my favorite part. This is a can of Sum'r Ale full of strawflowers like I find blooming all over the NC beaches. This is an original 11 x 15 watercolor painted with MaimeriBlue WC paints. I used deckle-edged watercolor paper.

I have painted a smaller and looser painting of the same subject. Now I want to try it much larger and with more details. Stay tuned!

Cotton Picking

Never had to pick cotton and know it was a rough job. Just picking it out of a field, you are surprised by its prickly parts. I have seen my grandmother use cotton carding combs to prepare the cotton for spinning. I just would like to have a vase full like I see Joanna Gaines uses on Fixer Upper show.

Cinnamon Sky

Cinnamon Sky is one of my few attempts at abstract. I think abstract is much harder than it looks, but so much fun to play with the paint! This is a watercolor size 8 x 8. I used watercolor paper, MaimeriBlu paints, and salt.

Winter Moon

How many nights we are entertained by our electronics-me included, when one of the greatest shows on earth is just outside. I live in a military community where these kind of streaks are common in our sky. I don't see many winter moons because I am not into the cold weather. This night was unseasonably warm and my husband had a fire going in the fire pit. What a show! This is an 8 x 6 acrylic ink painting using Daler Rowney FW Inks on 300# watercolor paper.

Got a Nibble

I'm not sure fishing is about fishing. Maybe it is just about watching that bobber and the water. The trance is broke only by getting a nibble! This is an 8 x 6 watercolor that will easily fit into a standard 8 x 10 mat and frame.

Sid's Shoe Shape Shoe Shop

An actual shop for shoe repairs, Sid's Shoe Shape Shoe Shop was a familiar sight when I was a child. I always thought Mother Hubbard really lived in there.

SUM'R CANNED

This is how I want to paint! It is difficult to paint with abandon. What will people say?!
I have expectations of myself and so do others. I just might break out and do it anyway!
This is an 8 x 10 watercolor with deckle edges of straw flowers in a Sum'r Ale beer can. I used MaimeriBlu watercolor paints on watercolor paper.
