Hanging On
I sometimes wake up in the morning with a painting on my mind. This particular morning I woke up with its title on my mind. Soon I was thinking about what it would look like. I already knew I was giving it to a friend. On a recent trip to the mountains of North Carolina, I encountered the thickest fog. The trees looked other worldly, and its leaves were all but gone. It is not a familiar site for me and I could hardly look at it enough. The title of the painting prompted me to leave one leaf hanging on. The painting medium is FW Acrylic Inks on Heritage watercolor paper.

Strata
Strata is a 9 X 12 oil painting using a palette knife. It abstractly represents Arizona and the colors are various reds and corals, and blues and greens. It was too much fun to paint! I used Georgian Water Mixable Oils on Canson Art Board.

Force of Nature
Force of Nature is a 14 x 10 watercolor of the old gnarly, live oak trees found on the North Carolina coast. Sometimes they look like they have been dancing! The salt and wind has made them beautiful in their imperfections. They really are noticeable, silhouetted in the last rays of the sun. The colors are rich and warm. The painting feels quiet and reflective. Painted on 300# watercolor paper using MaimeriBlu watercolors.

Deep Blue
Deep Blue is a sea turtle painted with MaimeriBlu watercolors. I used blues, greens, and violets instead of the real colors of brown, greens, and grays. As a North Carolina native, I catch a glimpse of them every great once in a while in the ocean. I am always surprised by how big they are!

Apache
Crowing and strutting around the place, this rooster seemed to demand my attention. He lives at a roadside attraction called Fort Apache in Supply, NC. Words are hard to find that would describe this unique place. The owner, Dale Varnam, is the kindest person you could meet. Even Mike and Frank of the tv show "American Pickers" had to check it out for themselves!
Original painting is done with Georgian Water Mixable Oils. The painting is 9 X 12 on Canson art board.

Buoy #2
It's a new perspective from a boat on the water! This buoy might be an orange dot in the water from the town of Southport, NC. Up close it is battered and rough. Of course, I never saw the reflective #2 or the algae growing on its base. It is painted on 300 lb Arches watercolor paper with MaimeriBlu watercolors. It can be easily framed with a standard size mat and frame. Prints can be purchased:

Morning in Willis
Morning in Willis is inspired by our stay at an Air b and b farm house in Willis, VA. It was way up in the mountains on a 35 acre farm, far away from towns. It was one of our favorite stays. The first morning in this old farm house, the sun came through the bank of windows in the kitchen, adding all kinds of sparkle to this beautiful teal pitcher. I used Daler Rowney FW Inks on watercolor paper.

Bucket of fun
My favorite thing to do on the beach with my grandchildren involves a sand pail. A sand pail for sand castles, making tidal pools, chasing them with a pail full of water, and collecting shells. I will never regret a day spent making sandcastles. This is an 8 x 6 watercolor (MaimeriBlu) on YUPO paper. It is best to have it double matted and behind glass when framing.

Cotton Picking
Never had to pick cotton and know it was a rough job. Just picking it out of a field, you are surprised by its prickly parts. I have seen my grandmother use cotton carding combs to prepare the cotton for spinning. I just would like to have a vase full like I see Joanna Gaines uses on Fixer Upper show.

Winter Moon
How many nights we are entertained by our electronics-me included, when one of the greatest shows on earth is just outside. I live in a military community where these kind of streaks are common in our sky. I don't see many winter moons because I am not into the cold weather. This night was unseasonably warm and my husband had a fire going in the fire pit. What a show! This is an 8 x 6 acrylic ink painting using Daler Rowney FW Inks on 300# watercolor paper.

Super Skates
I was fearless on my super skates and have a scar or two to show for it. Last time I went skating as an adult, I woke up on a bench with some young fellow asking me was I alright! This is a 6 x 8 watercolor with deckle edges. It can easily be framed with a standard mat and frame. It was painted with MaimeriBlu paints on watercolor paper.

SUM'R CANNED
This is how I want to paint! It is difficult to paint with abandon. What will people say?!
I have expectations of myself and so do others. I just might break out and do it anyway!
This is an 8 x 10 watercolor with deckle edges of straw flowers in a Sum'r Ale beer can. I used MaimeriBlu watercolor paints on watercolor paper.
