Strumming

Asheville, North Carolina has the most exciting art community and energy. There are so many places to go and see. Found an old store front window displaying musical instruments and just had to stand and enjoy looking at their shiny surfaces and interesting shapes. This painting is more abstract than I usually paint. Abstract is much more difficult than it looks. I throughly enjoyed painting this acrylic on canvas and plan to paint some similar pieces. Painted with Daler Rowney acrylics.

Granny's Chair

It seems to me that people use to take the time to sit and think or converse. Our end of the day chair is now 60 miles and hour down the road or parked in front of the TV that we mostly watch with our eyes closed. Rust is going to take this old chair completely away one day. I wonder if we will be able to remember the conversations in that chair or have conversations in our chairs? Think I will go sit a spell! Painted with MaimeriBlu watercolors.

Spike

I made my own tie dye t shirt many moons ago. For some reason, when I play with the Daler Rowney Acrylic inks, it reminds me of tie dyeing! Something is going to be a surprise. I painted this cactus with the pearlescent inks. It seems strange to me that a prickly cactus would have beautiful buds and blooms. They bloom in North Carolina around May. Now I watch for them.
