Summer Breeze

There is nothing like a summer breeze, sound of gulls and waves on a hot summer day in North Carolina. Its my happy place! How do you like a white umbrella with plenty of color? This painting was done with the FW inks from Daler Rowney. It and others will be on display at the Flying Pig for the months of May and June at Oak Island, NC.

I love to paint sunflowers and hisbiscus. Guess its the strong colors and the very size of the flower. They are easy to find this time of year in NC. This is a watercolor I have prepared to teach in a class.

Mock Orange

Hard to resist painting flowers. Crazy about color and they have it. This is a watercolor using MaimeriBlu paints on Yupo paper. The watercolors are especially bright because they do not sink into the paper. Yupo is a strange bird to work with, but I am fascinated with the color and texture.

Paint the Sky

Sunflower, a tall flower that is short lived. When you see them you have to stop and enjoy them before they are gone again. They stand around just waiting to be noticed. Something about that yellow against the blue sky. Painted with MaimeriBlu paints on aqua board.

Play Jacks

Coordination was never my strong suit. This statement alone can put my family into hysterics laughing. They would probably say Duh! So, I still can't play jacks but I at least can paint them. This was a new plastic set I painted but I hope to find an old metal set to paint. Painted with MaimeriBlu paints on watercolor paper.

JUST A PENNY

This is a watercolor of a vintage acorn gum ball machine. I believe it is from the 60's. Then a penny could buy a little kid or a big kid a piece of gum. Painted with MaimeriBlu watercolors.

catching the wind

Spotted this catamaran moored on South Padre Island, Texas. It was well-worn with many colorful patches, but still a beauty catching the suns rays. Some subjects are a perfect fit for watercolor. Painted with MaimeriBlu paints on watercolor paper.
